PRODUCTS Wood Shells
100% maple or birch Keller Drum shells. Kick drums are made with either 8 or 10 ply’s (thick), and our tom shells are 6 or 8 ply (thick). Our Snare drum shells are offered with either 6 ply up to 50 ply (thick). All drums can be ordered up to 24
inches deep.
Solid Stave Shells / Steam bent shells: In any type of wood, available in all sizes, thickness, and dept.
Acrylic Shells:
Available In many different colors, sparkles, and designs. Acrylic shells are approximately ¼ inch thick.
Brass Shells:
Available in a black chrome finish or hand hammered finish, (can be powder coated any color).
Metal shells:
Available in many different metals in almost any size and thickness (can be powder coated any color).
Hybrid Shells:
We make wood/acrylic hybrid shells in almost all finishes, sizes, and colors.
Bearing Edges
All drums come with a double 45-degree bearing edge, allowing the head to sit perfectly on the drum, and causing a deeper, longer resonating tone.
COMPONENTS
Drum Heads:
AJP Custom Drums uses Evans Drum Heads and Remo Drum Heads
Lugs:
We use the Agile Lug, or if you desire as an upgrade option the 2-inch long solid brass tube lug on toms, and a special raised 2-inch
tube lug for the bass drum. The tube lug used on snares varies in
size, depending on the height of the snare.
Every drum built at AJP, comes with (Loctite) internal screws system. This product is applied to every internal screw to eliminate screw loosening
Hoops:
We use 2.3mm hoops on all toms and snare drums.
Die Cast Hoops:
Die Cast Hoops are available as an upgrade option on toms and snare drums.
Wood Hoops:
Wood hoops are available for both snares and toms. We offer three styles including the Yamaha style; a vintage style (hides the drumhead and uses claws). Wood hoops are now available in all sizes.
Die Cast Claws Solid designed:
Die cast claws are used on bass drums for maximum strength and support.
Throw Offs:
All AJP snares come with TRICK throw off.
Dunnet, and
Nickleworks throw offs are offered at an extra cost.
Powder Coating:
All of the hardware can be powder coated in any color.
Before powder coating, all metal is sandblasted to prevent chipping of the powder coating.
FINISHES
High Gloss:
Any color can be stained with a high gloss clear coat sprayed over to show the grain of the wood.
Satin Finish:
Any color can be stained with a low gloss satin finish sprayed over to show the grain of the wood.
Painted Finishes:
Drums can be painted in any color, including sparkles, stripes, and other various custom designs.
Wraps:
Drums can be wrapped in a large variety of different sparkles, glosses, pearls, glass glitters & other different types of wraps.
Please be aware that the Custom Printed Wraps are pre-manufactured outside of AJP Custom Drum Co, so some may have slight character flaws and/or inconsistencies. We cannot be held responsible for these flaws, but will make every effort to provide you with the best quality product we can. Also, please be aware that these wraps are single-sided, cold-laminated to give them more strength and resiliency and/or to lock in printed imagery. Therefore they tend to be a bit thinner than our normal graphic wraps and if you are a “lug-torquer”, you may cause some minor bulging or sagging around your lugs as you over-tighten your heads. So, be careful!
